- 2 min per lesson
One step at a time
A path that knows where it’s taking you
You start with the board itself and move forward one lesson at a time. Each one unlocks the next, so you never wonder what to do now. Three stages, fourteen sections, more than eighty lessons.
Real tactics
Forks, pins and mates that look like magic
The same patterns grandmasters use, broken down so a beginner can spot them and land them: forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, back-rank mates and the legendary smothered mate.
Make it a habit
You come back because you want to
Daily streak, quests with gem rewards, chests, XP and stars for every milestone. Smart practice brings back the puzzles you found hardest, right before you’d forget them.

Do you know how the knight moves?
Tap the knight and you’ll see its eight possible destinations. This is literally the app’s first lesson — and you’re already doing it.
Tap the knight
From a corner it only has two. That’s why knights hate the edges.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know anything about chess to start?
Nothing at all. The first lesson is the board itself: what a square is and how it’s named. From there one idea gets added at a time. If you’ve never touched a pawn, this is exactly where you belong.
Is it free?
Yes. You can learn and play for free. There’s an optional subscription, Super, for anyone who wants to remove energy limits and ads, but the course can be followed without paying.
What devices does it work on?
Ajedrez is available for iPhone running iOS 26.2 or later. The app is in English, using simple vocabulary aimed at beginners.
How much time do I need per day?
Two minutes already moves you a lesson forward. The energy system is designed to keep sessions short and frequent, which is how people actually learn.
Who do I play against?
You practise against the lesson exercises and compete in the weekly XP league through Game Center, against real people who are learning just like you.
Is it good for kids?
The app is rated 4+ and works just as well at 8 as at 80. Lessons are visual, so you don’t need to read much to follow them.
What if I forget what I learned?
Smart practice brings back the puzzles you found hardest right before you’d forget them, and practice mode is always there whenever you want extra reps.
